Day of Prayer
Yoga, Meditation, Lectio Divina, Taize Chant Eucharist
Shrine of St Anthony near Ellicott City, MD Saturday 10-5 September 30, 2006 $80 includes lunch / scholarships available
Prayers bless our lives in many ways, in many guises. Intercessory prayers connect us with others as well as with God, open our hearts and remind us we are not self-sufficient and not alone. Prayers of praise lift us up. Prayers of gratitude heal us. Prayers of silence help us to hear God's comfort and God's call. We pray in myriad ways, that our lives may become a prayer.
On this day of silent retreat come to deepen the ways we pray: Yoga prayer sequences, scripture, chant, mindful eating and Eucharist (offered to all) These movements of mind-body-spirit help to quiet the mind for silent seated prayer in stillness, open to the whisper of God's voice.
WHAT TO BRING: Something for the prayer table to help focus your intention for the day. A sticky mat and meditation cushion, if you have them. We recommend that you be able to do a simple sun salutation without struggle so that you can enter, with some ease, the prayerful nature of some of the yoga sequences which involve getting up and down from the floor.
